Hooray! The Tiny Town Sew Along
Hooray! The Tiny Town Sew Along that so many of you have asked me for since the pattern released begins this Wednesday, September 20 Aussie time (thats the 19th for those of you who live in YesterdayLand!). Thank so much to you all for the amazing reception this little cutie has received. The Sew Along is FREE, you don’t need to sign up or do anything at all other than join in, stitch along and enjoy. Ho Ho Ho, it’s the Jinglebird! Time for some Christmas Swap action peeps!

Ho Ho Ho, it’s the Jinglebird! Time for some Christmas Swap action peeps!
Registration pens today for my annual Christmas Ornament swap! The first year I did this it was during the pandemic, and the Swap was only available for Aussies. However SO MANY OF YOU wanted to play from around the world, that the last two years I opened it to everyone around the world - and it was such fun and such a success that I'm doing it again. Plus we had NO FLAKERS two years in a row if you can believe that! Everyone sent their package - only one was lost in the post. Continue reading

Why I love books - part 2

Why I love books - part 2
I’m one of the few lucky people in the world who grew up to be exactly what they wanted to be. When I was little I wanted to write books, draw pictures and be a teacher. And that’s what I do for a living - not in exactly the way my little mind envisaged - there’s a fair bit more fabric involved than I ever could have guessed. Having written 14 quilting books I still have the flame inside me to write more, and the ambition to write a novel, and a children’s book. One day, one day. Continue reading

Why I love books - part 1

Why I love books - part 1
My entire childhood, I dreamed of writing a book. At the age of three I could read words out of the newspaper to my mother. It’s one of my first memories, sitting on the kitchen step reading out the ones I knew while she stirred something on the stove, my baby brother on her hip. I would staple pages of folded craft paper and write little stories on the pages and illustrate the blanks between. Continue reading

Gum Leaf Christmas Wreath Pattern

Gum Leaf Christmas Wreath Pattern

This Aussie themed Christmas wreath is quick and fun to make! It would be a lovely gift for someone, or make a few for all your family’s bedroom doors so Santa knows where you are.

You can make it from beautiful wool felt as I have - or consider using the templates for a needleturn applique project. It would be a wonderful cushion!

New! Merry and Bright embroidery pattern

I love to embroider as well as to quilt! I have been hand embroidering ever since I was a little girl. The sketch for my Merry and Bright Christmas Tree Skirt Block of the Month just seemed to be crying out to be embroidered as well as quilted! This is a simple embroidery that has lots of lovely potential festive uses.

I have used two strands of DMC embroidery thread for all the embroidery worked here. The finished circle is 35cm (14 inches) in diameter.
