I wandered lonely as a cloud,
That floats on high o’er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a crowd
A host of...
(from the poem ‘Daffodils’ by William Wordsworth)
OK, well they’re not golden daffodils, they’re white dandelions, but I think these fluffy little flowers remind me of my childhood more than any other flower. Our local park certainly had a host of them, and we used to pick them and blow all the seeds away into the park gardens to make fairy wishes. I’m sure the gardeners didn’t love us much. Our blowing must have been creating dandelions faster than they could pull them out.
You can make your own childhood fairy wishes with this quilt, or piece all the flowers in different colours for a field of wildflowers instead.
