Lecture from Annette Gero:

The fabric of War 1760 to 1900. Quilts  made from military fabrics.

We all know Annette has documented many Quilts made by Australian women, but this talk is about a rare collection of Quilts which  were all made by men from their uniforms at War and quilts dated from as early as 1760!

The Quilts have amazing documentation, reflecting those made at War , a marriage, important historical events, and those geometric Quilts, made by the soldiers at war from their uniforms . These are extraordinary, some with  20,000  one inch pieces. There are also many pictorial Quilts. The colours and designs are just an inspiration for the modern Quilter.

Annette will bring several examples for us to see.
These quilts  were shown in the Usa at the Museum of American Folk Art
And were reviewed by the New York time as the second best exhibition in New York at that time!
Annette it has also written a new book on these wonderful Quilts, which will be available at the talk.
50 Quilts in full colour, and 200 pages!!
