Under the weather

Hello StitchyMites,

Apologies for the late post this week, and a bit of a postponement. Sarah isn't well at the moment so the colour class will begin next week. Today she would like you all to know that the winner of the Courting Sew Along giveaway for StitchyMites is Jule März. Congrats Jule - please send us your postal address to sarah@sarahfielke.com and we will get your pinnie into the post for you.

While you're waiting for the colour class next week, Sarah hopes you enjoy this video from the Australian Art Gallery in Canberra. The NGA has a small but wonderful exhibition of quilts on show until August 25, 2024. The Rajah Quilt, probably Australia's most famous quilt, is on display during this time. The quilt was made in 1841 on board the convict ship The Rajah. It has a wonderful story. You can read more about the quilt here -

Last night the Textile Conservator of the museum and the show's curator gave a wonderful talk about the quilt including some insights about the fabric, the conservation and even the seams on this amazing old textile. You can watch the talk back here -

Have a wonderful week everyone
