Oh, I love this quilt! I have been planning teapots and cups for ages and ages—but how to do it without being twee? The striped background just popped into my head one day and I couldn’t wait to try it out. It’s a little mad, but so so happy. It makes me think of all the friends I’d like to have a cup of tea with.

Two fat eighths will make background stripes for two cups or one teapot. It is important to have light, medium, and dark in each color. I used a ColourBox from Oakshott Fabrics. I had a lot of fabric left over, but it did give me a very wide and beautiful range of colors.

There is a fair amount of piecing in this quilt, but it’s well worth the effort—and using the Oakshott cottons for the background and Liberty prints for the teapots and cups gives the quilt a silky texture that is a pleasure to hand quilt.
