Inspired by a friend’s little girl, Annie, who loves pretty things and pink and purple things, I designed the quilt for her mother to make for her; mine is finished and hers has been in a bag for five years!
 
This is easy appliqué for beginners. There is a lot of work involved, but it is not difficult and the results are worth the effort. It’s also a good way to use up scraps. If you don’t have a large selection of scraps in the desired colours, buy 10-15 fat quarters and see how you go from there.
 
What ties this quilt together is the red; take it away and you miss it instantly, as it packs a punch. This is something to remember when you’re choosing fabrics for your garden.
