On a cloudy day this cheery quilt could only brighten your mood. The original quilt is such a delight that the temptation was to just make mine the same! But that would be cheating, so instead I have chosen a soft pink field for my sunflowers.
I have purposely used different pinks for the background here. Many antique quilts are made from what the user had to hand, and I have tried to be careful in not running to the quilt shop every time I need an extra few metres of something. These pinks were all in my stash and they sit so nicely together. I have given material requirements for you to use several pinks as I have, or to use all the one fabric.
This quilt would look wonderful and vibrant with text fabrics for the backgrounds and very bright sunflowers. It would also be truly lovely in soft reproduction fabrics on a grey or a natural linen background. Whatever you choose the sunflowers are sure to shine.
