I started piecing the blocks for this challenge with not a lot of thought as to how they would go together, grabbed some spots, stripes, a few favourites and away I went. With 72 pieces in each block and many blocks to make, I figured I had a while to sew them, and what a great carry-along project it would be on aeroplanes, in the car on long trips.
I suddenly realised I was going to have to finish it for the book, there was a moment of panic until I went with what I know — that another spot or two will always save the day.
When I was naming this project, words kept coming to mind. Fuzzy, fizzy, poppy, dotty and jumpy, but in the end, I came down to Jazz Hands. Can't you see the jazz dancers with their outstretched fingers?
