I love this quilt but I will admit to feeling very glad to see the back of half- square triangles by the end! The result reminds me of tiled floors in Roman baths, although a lot brighter.
 
Each round of this quilt is comprised of a “triangle” fabric and a “background” fabric. The background fabric is lighter in color, and is on the inside edge of the row (facing toward the center of the quilt). The triangle fabric is darker in color and faces toward the outside edge of the quilt—i.e., the triangle is pointing to the center, with the flat edge facing out. This contrast will create the sharp rows of triangles needed to form the pattern. Rather than specify the fabric colors required for this quilt, the material requirements have been given as “triangle” and “background” fabrics.
