The Big Pineapple was inspired totally by the fabric and my need to make a pineapple-block quilt, which happened to coincide. However, with the fabric print being so big and pineapple blocks traditionally being so small, I did the only logical thing and enlarged the block to fit the flower.
 
The key to selecting colours for this quilt is in your inspiration fabric centre square. Once you choose that, you can pull all your colour choices from there. I would love to see this quilt done in civil war fabrics for a change of pace.
